Mike Hanley shared “I’m heartbroken to share that my sister, Maureen, passed away yesterday. Maureen was a great mother, wife, and sister. And she was one of the most caring people I’ve ever known. She was also a professor at the New England College of Optometry, shaping the careers of so many future optometrists while making a difference in the lives of her patients. She gave her time, her knowledge, and her heart to every person she met. The picture I’m sharing is grainy, but it’s what I think of when I think of my first memory with her. It’s from the Providence Journal, capturing a moment when I was 2 —her handing me a British “Bobby” hat from a swimming trip she had made. I will miss you, Maureen.”
