The Calgary community is mourning the loss of Gordon “Gord” Hobbins, the beloved owner of Gord’s Running Store. Gord was a passionate advocate for health and fitness, creating a welcoming space for runners of all levels. His store was more than a shop—it was a hub for the running community, offering support, mentorship, and encouragement to all who walked through its doors.
Gord’s dedication to an active lifestyle inspired many, especially as he shared his personal health journey and how running helped him battle heart disease. His impact on the Calgary running scene is immeasurable, and his memory will live on in the lives he touched.
Andrew Barron shared “I’m very sad to hear about Gord Hobbins’s passing. Gord’s Running Store was the place to go for a chat or a purchase. Gord was always available to talk to and gave considered thought to and recommendations for selecting products. His support of the running community was demonstrated by his enthusiasm, and support of many running events in Calgary over the years. He will be greatly missed.“
Shane Esau posted: A sad, sad day! The loss of this wonderful human being will hurt my heart for a long time. I am so happy I was able to meet, work for, and call Gord a good friend. I will miss him dearly.
