With immense shock and sadness, we mourn the passing of JP Hanish, a devoted University of Pittsburgh Band alumnus, who left an unforgettable impact on those who knew him. Originally from Hunlock Creek, Pennsylvania, JP had been living in Pittsburgh, PA, where he continued to embody the pride and spirit of the Pitt community.
JP was a talented trumpet player who marched with the Pitt Band from 2004 to 2008, also performing as a dedicated member of the basketball pep band. His love for music and camaraderie was evident through his deep involvement in Iota Beta Kappa, Mu Kappa Upsilon, and Kappa Kappa Psi, where he formed lifelong friendships and contributed to a lasting legacy of brotherhood.
A true Pitt man, JP was known for his unwavering enthusiasm, kindness, and ability to bring people together. His sudden passing has left family, friends, and fellow Pitt Band alumni heartbroken as they grieve the loss of a cherished friend and mentor.
